Sara

My name is Sara, I am 11 years old, and I am from Shingal. I live with my parents and my three sisters and one brother. In Shingal, life was normal for me. Every morning after breakfast, I would go to play with my friends, and I was happy when we would play together.

We had to come here in 2014 because of the danger. I started school here at this camp, and tried to make some new friends. Groups of children were playing games near my tent, and I went to join them. I didn’t expect anything bad to happen but while I was playing, a boy came and pushed me down. I got really scared. I was hurt, and my leg was bleeding badly. It made me so sad. After that, it was in my mind all the time. I couldn’t forget what happened and I didn’t want to go play anymore.

When I came to the Heroes journey program, the kids were happy, and we shared together and played together. My feelings started to change for better.  Even my thoughts have changed.  I don’t think about that accident all the time anymore, and before I was feeling the pain still but now I don’t.

After our session about having the courage to forgive, I understood what I needed to do. I forgave this boy and what he did to me. I forgave him, and now I’m happy! Now I think of myself, and not only of that boy. I have good thoughts and that has also made me more patient.

Because of the generosity of people like you, children like Sara find the courage they need to move forward. BUT there are thousands of people with stories that are yet to end with hope. Help Tutapona provide that hope and healing by donating today.
