Samuel

My name is Samuel Koryandambo, and I am a refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Six years ago, I fled my homeland and sought refuge in Uganda. As a trained lawyer, I struggled to rebuild my life. I felt depressed and lost, unsure of what I would do or where to begin.

My life took a turn when I participated in a Tutapona Grow program in a village called Rubondo. As a new arrival at that time, the teachings of Tutapona helped me heal emotionally and find new hope for restoration. I was profoundly inspired by Tutapona’s work and yearned with all my heart to be part of it.

A few months later, by God's grace, I joined Tutapona as one of their interpreters in 2021. I served in this role for slightly more than two years, enjoying the sessions and learning as much as possible. Later on, an opportunity came to become a GROW program facilitator. I was given a chance and in mid-2023 I stepped into the role of MHPSS program facilitator, where I received a lot of training and support to get me grounded in the role.

Today, after four years at Tutapona, I am grateful to the Almighty and Tutapona for the opportunity to bring emotional healing to my fellow Congolese refugees and others who are struggling, just as I once did.

Because of the generosity of people like you, our passionate staff members can offer emotional support and HOPE to so many who have fled war and destruction. BUT there are thousands of people with stories that are yet to end with hope. Help Tutapona provide emotional healing by donating today.
