My name is Revin, I’m 9 years old. When ISIS attacked, we came to this camp. Here, I had some good friends. We were always together playing games, going to school, and hanging out. We never hurt each other. But then one day, the girls heard a story about my family, and told me that before I was born, I had sister - her name was Revin like me. Unfortunately, she was severely burned and died from that injury.
My family hadn’t shared this with me, and my friends told me the story because they wanted to make me feel bad - like I wasn’t loved. Over and over my friends told me the story of what happened to my sister, and how I got my name. It made me so sad. Many times, I wanted to blame someone for how I felt, but I couldn't figure out who to blame. I felt alone, like no one could understand me. I carried this painful feeling until I attended the Heroes Journey program.
At the Heroes Journey, I learned about being strong and how heroes are powerful. I decided to take that difficult feeling out of my heart. And when I discovered the power of believing in God, I felt like I was no longer left alone. I realized that God is with me in every situation, wherever I may be. From Joseph's story, I learned that even though I may face challenges in life, believing in God can help me maintain a positive outlook. Also, through the program, I have learned to be grateful for what I have. I am thankful for my parents and three brothers. I am also thankful to God, who gave me my brothers. Now I feel strong! Whatever comes my way, I will be as strong as a hero!
Because of the generosity of people like you, children like Revin have learned how to be thankful, and how to feel like they are not alone. BUT there are thousands of people with stories that are yet to end with hope. Help Tutapona provide that hope and healing by donating today.
