A Story of Seeking Help on World Suicide Prevention Day
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. At Tutapona we know that when we meet people where they are, and work to de-stigmatize mental illness in the community, they can find the help that they need. There can be healing. There can be hope. Below, Vice President of Programs Tim Manson recalls one afternoon where he witnessed such an impact on one woman’s life after she sought the help when she needed it most.
Remember, it is okay to not be okay. Please reach out to a mental health professional or suicide help hotline in your country if you are experiencing thoughts of suicide.
An Open Letter From Carl & Julie
When we look back on the first half of 2020 in years to come, we are convinced it will be a case of praising God for the extraordinary and the miraculous. It certainly hasn’t felt that way when we’ve been in the midst of uncertainty and confusion, and feeling stretched by financial difficulties. Despite all of the challenges, we’ve seen God move in wondrous ways, even with the impact of funding cuts and a global pandemic.
"We Are Stuck, But We Are Alive"
Candice Lassey is our Field Communications Officer in Uganda. She’s been working with Tutapona in Uganda for 3 years and has met so many incredible people in that time. We often say we have so much to learn from people in these difficult circumstances; they show resilience, courage and real love in the face of adversity, and Candice has been blessed to be a part of these journeys by being able to give them a voice when they feel overwhelmed or, ‘stuck’.
