HEALTHY HABITS

Healthy Habits is a support program designed to help empower participants to overcome unwanted habitual patterns of behavior, and develop new healthy and desirable habits. This program draws from the best of empirical research, to help participants exercise self-discipline, overcome cravings and temptations, achieve personal goals, and equip participants with life-empowering skills to help them understand the nature of behavior patterns and how habits are developed, maintained and changed.

The program is facilitated by trained Mental Health Professionals over 7 weekly meetings, in small group of 12 participants. The negative impacts of addictive behaviors are widely acknowledged in the Refugee Community, but targeted supports are few and far between.

To address the worrisome gap between needs of those suffering from destructive behaviors, and the services available, Tutapona launched the Healthy Habits Program in Uganda in 2022.

Healthy Habits currently runs in Uganda.

When a person comes to understand how the brain, body, and behavior are connected, they can develop strategies to take back control over automated habits. They can learn to change their physiology, manage their emotions, and renew their mind. It becomes possible to overcome unhelpful and unwanted habits, and develop new, healthy ones.
