Christine - Primary School teacher, Adjumani

My name is Christine, and I am a teacher here at Maaji 3 Primary School. I’ve been teaching for over 20 years, I even taught him (Issa, one of our field facilitators in Adjumani) many years ago. And he’s now working with Tutapona.

It is difficult here sometimes, as there are 18 tribes staying together. All tribes have their differences; different behaviors, different ideas, and different cultures and languages. Many hold grudges because of what went on in the war. I coordinate with Tutapona to carry out the Heroes Journey in the school.

These learners have many challenges, like fighting with each other, but after learning from the Heroes Journey, they have changed. The activities of Tutapona have shaped the young people here. The fighting has reduced, and they have begun to share with each other. They now help each other. I see them putting into practice what they have learned. They can stand firm against any problem that comes their way.

So far 245 students out of our 2,428 have been able to participate in the Heroes Journey. The children who have had the chance to take part in the programming from Tutapona rate much better in their educational performances. Even in reading they are better, and they are active in class. They know how to overcome challenges.

Because of the generosity of people like you, so many of Chrsitine’s students have found emotional healing. BUT there are thousands of people with stories that are yet to end with hope. Help Tutapona bring hope and healing by donating today.
